Summer Expectations
Elementary Students
Summer is the perfect time to practice skills and read, read, read!
Summer reading reminders and other assignments for kindergarten through 5th grade were sent home with students and are posted below. Please remind your children to have the reading and assignments completed prior to coming back to school on Aug. 18. Thank you, parents, for your partnership in helping our students succeed.

Middle School
Reading is a vital part of every child’s development. At Corbett Prep, the students actively read throughout the year, both as a whole class and individually. Reading promotes comprehension, develops vocabulary and increases sensitivity to other cultures, social conditions, historical events and the student’s own personal awareness. The summer reading program encourages students to actively read during the months that they are away from school.
Middle School Summer Reading
All Middle School students will read Just Like Me: Stories and Self Portraits by Fourteen Artists or Honoring Our Ancestors: Stories and Pictures by Fourteen Artists as well as books selected specifically for incoming sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Click the button to download information about the books and related assignments for each grade.
Additional Middle School Practice
In addition to the required Summer Reading assignments, Middle School teachers also recommend Summer Practice in different subjects. Please contact Jennifer Jagdmann, division leader, at jjagdmann@corbettprep.com or (813) 961-3087 if you need information about a specific class.
