This video will show you the basics of how to use the Canvas Student App at Corbett Prep. We are asking that all parents of students in PreK3-5th Grade use the Canvas Student App and parents of 6th-8th graders use the Canvas Parent App.

CANVAS APP

There are three different apps – student, parent and teacher. Parents will use the student app if they have a child in PreK3-5th grade. Middle School parents will use the parent app.

What is Canvas?

Canvas is Corbett Prep's learning management system (LMS). It is designed to make teaching and learning easier by connecting all the digital tools and resources teachers use into one simple place. Canvas is used by top universities and colleges all over the world and now by the incredible students and teachers at Corbett Prep!

Students are enrolled in courses that correspond to their homeroom classes, specials, electives and clubs. To learn more about Canvas click here.

Getting started

Students may login to Canvas here or visit help.instructure.com for Canvas guides.

Once logged in, students will navigate to their dashboards to see a list of every course in which they are enrolled. Clicking on the course will take them to the class home page, where they will find additional information that may include assignments, announcements, photos or helpful links.

The calendar is another important aspect of Canvas. In addition to an all-school calendar that contains dates for schoolwide events, holidays and closings, students will see calendars specific to their classes. They need to keep a close eye on these calendars to learn about project deadlines, field trips, class events and more (hint: you can subscribe to these using whatever calendar you currently use).

How we use Canvas across the school differs based on grade level. For questions or help using Canvas, contact the office at (813) 961-3087. For questions about specific courses, please email or call the teacher of that class.

Logging in to Canvas on a desktop

Students need to log into their Office 365 email accounts first to correctly log into Canvas. Through the Students page or this page, click on Office 365 to sign into email. Return to the Students page (or this page) and click on Canvas.

Logging in to Canvas via the app

PreK3–5th grade parents will log in to Canvas either through the student app or through the website to access class pictures, weekly newsletters, technology resources, class syllabi, class and school calendars, current units of inquiry and more.

Parents of 6th-8th grade students will continue to use the Canvas parent app to view their student's assignments, due dates, announcements, grades, and get grade alerts.

6th-8th grade students will log in to Canvas through the student app or through the website.
