Giving
For more than 50 years, Corbett Prep has created an educational environment where students feel happy and engaged, which in turn makes them more open to learning.
Your support makes the daily magic of a Corbett Prep education possible while also looking toward the future. It ensures students have access to cutting-edge technology and programs that shape their academic and personal growth, and it allows Corbett Prep to recruit, retain and develop teachers with the vision and experience to carry out our school’s mission.
We offer several ways for our alumni, families and friends to donate, online and in person, to our annual giving campaign as well as our two endowments.
Why give to Corbett Prep?
Your support helps in three major areas:
- Endowment Scholarship Fund: The Gift of a Corbett Prep Education. The Endowment Scholarship Fund increases opportunities for students and families in need. Through the generosity of donors this fund ensures a diverse learning community and makes it possible for mission-appropriate candidates to attend regardless of financial constraints.
- Dr. Joyce Burick Swarzman Teacher Development Fund: Every Child Deserves a Teacher of the Year. The Teacher Development Fund honors Dr. Joyce Burick Swarzman, who led Corbett Prep and Independent Day School for more than two decades. Dr. Swarzman conducted professional development for more than 20,000 educators locally, nationally and internationally. This fund will continue her legacy of training by supporting above-and-beyond training opportunities for teachers to implement innovative programs and best practices. Master teachers bring out the best in each student.
- Annual Giving: Together for Excellence. This yearly giving campaign bridges the critical difference between tuition revenue and the actual operational cost of a Corbett Prep education. The support of our annual giving program is important for preserving the highest level of teaching and learning, balancing the budget and upgrading facilities.

Corbett Preparatory School of IDS and the Board of Trustees Announce New Endowment Fund
Corbett Preparatory School of IDS is honored to celebrate and continue the legacy of Dr. Joyce Burick Swarzman. Prior to the school's commitment to this fund, Dr. Swarzman shared her wishes to continue to drive excellence in student education and provide professional development for "Teachers with a capital T" for years to come.
The DR. JOYCE BURICK SWARZMAN TEACHER DEVELOPMENT FUND –
Every Child Deserves a Teacher of the Year endowment fund supports above-and-beyond training opportunities for teachers in the name of Dr. Swarzman, who led Corbett Prep and Independent Day School for more than two decades. Her reach extended far beyond Tampa as well, as she conducted professional development for more than 20,000 educators nationally and internationally. She expresses her gratitude to the Board of Trustees for naming this fund in her honor.
When you donate to the DR. JOYCE BURICK SWARZMAN TEACHER DEVELOPMENT FUND, you help us provide permanent, long-term support for our core missions. Corbett Prep strives to create a community of lifelong learners – students, faculty and staff – who embrace the spirit of inquiry and understand that there are always ways we can grow personally and intellectually.
“This endowment will forever honor Dr. Swarzman and will provide a steady revenue source, thereby helping our organization sustain continued above-and-beyond teaching and learning,” said Jeff Shannon, Corbett Prep Board President. “We are additionally honored to share a Leadership Level gift of $100,000 from the Tomlin family that will kick off the fund. Dr. Swarzman made a difference in the lives of thousands of students, parents and teachers, and we are hopeful many of them will want to help ensure that others are able to benefit in the future.”
