Remote Learning at Corbett Prep

We want to create a remote learning environment where teachers can continue to engage students and keep their minds active in meaningful ways.

Using Zoom and Canvas, we can facilitate a version of blended learning, where students learn online via platforms and tools as well as in face-to-face interactions with our teachers via Zoom.

Many of our instructional tools are familiar to our students, and by striking a balance between active learning and novelty, and between online and paper-based learning, we have an opportunity to provide students with the ability to learn in person or remotely from their homes.

Canvas

Red circle logo for Canvas Learning Management System

Canvas is our Learning Management System (LMS) and serves as home base for students academically. Older Corbett Prep students are versed in accessing assignments from their teachers, turning in work and receiving feedback from their teachers. Under our Remote Learning Plan, we will use Canvas across all grade levels from PreK3-8th grade. The plan includes information for parents on how to log in, how to access your child's work and where to go for help.

Zoom

Blue and white camera logo for Zoom video conferencing

Zoom is a web-based video conferencing tool with a local, desktop client and a mobile app that allows users to meet online, with or without video. Zoom users can choose to record sessions, collaborate on projects, and share or annotate on one another’s screens, all with one easy-to-use platform.

Classes and Specials will use Zoom during the school day for real-time conversations, instruction and activities.

We are creating a series of remote learning video tutorials to help you with common issues, including how students can navigate Zoom and how to switch between Zoom and other apps on different devices. View the tutorials here.
