Four Corbett Prep musicians were among top students selected from across Florida to perform recently in All-State ensembles.
To foster a love of music, our program gives all students the chance to explore making music in a variety of ways.
All students have the opportunity to participate in musical activities twice a week, learning music fundamentals and exploring music of many cultures and historical periods. Students sing and learn drums, recorders, band instruments, Orff instruments, electronic keyboards, and computer programs.
Students who choose to take their musical experience to a more advanced level may join the Spirit of IDS Chorus (3rd grade), Warriors’ Pride Chorus (4th -5th grades), Middle School Musical Theatre (6th- 8th grades), and Beginning and Advanced Bands (5th-8th grades). Middle School students may also participate in the All-State Chorus Prep club, where they prepare for auditions for the highly competitive choral group that performs at the Florida Music Education Association conference. These enrichment opportunities give students even more experiences to embrace and develop their musical talents .
See a classic movie musical come alive on stage as Corbett Prep's Community School of the Arts presents Singin' in the Rain Jr. Packed with clever dialogue and Hollywood standards, the show follows a starlet, leading man and a career in the balance as silent movies give way to sound.
Students in Corbett Prep's Community School of the Arts have worked since September on The Grunch and Singin' in the Rain Jr. Julie Nelson and Jarrett Koski direct both shows, which feature cast members from Corbett Prep and other schools.
