To foster a love of music, our program gives all students the chance to explore making music in a variety of ways.
All students have the opportunity to participate in musical activities twice a week, learning music fundamentals and exploring music of many cultures and historical periods. Students sing and learn drums, recorders, band instruments, Orff instruments, electronic keyboards, and computer programs.
Students who choose to take their musical experience to a more advanced level may join the Spirit of IDS Chorus (3rd grade), Warriors’ Pride Chorus (4th -5th grades), Middle School Musical Theatre (6th- 8th grades), and Beginning and Advanced Bands (5th-8th grades). Middle School students may also participate in the All-State Chorus Prep club, where they prepare for auditions for the highly competitive choral group that performs at the Florida Music Education Association conference. These enrichment opportunities give students even more experiences to embrace and develop their musical talents.
Many students also choose to further their students with private or group lessons in voice or instruments after school in Corbett Prep's Community School of the Arts.
Corbett Prep's Thespian Troupe has had an impressive start to the school year, applying its energy and creativity to revive live theatre at school and earning high rankings in competitions this fall. The students return to the stage Dec. 11 with their mainstage performance Yo, Vikings!
We found new ways to preserve beloved traditions, reimagined how learning could look outside of the classroom and delighted in rare chances to say hello in person. Become part of Ariel's world as the Middle School Thespian Troupe 88622 presents Disney's "The Little Mermaid Jr." The students have prepared these special performances for the Florida Junior Thespian Mainstage Competition. Be sure to join us for this beloved show Oct. 11-12.
