Music

To foster a love of music, our program gives all students the chance to explore making music in a variety of ways.

All students have the opportunity to participate in musical activities twice a week, learning music fundamentals and exploring music of many cultures and historical periods. Students sing and learn drums, recorders, band instruments, Orff instruments, electronic keyboards, and computer programs.

Students who choose to take their musical experience to a more advanced level may join the Spirit of IDS Chorus (3rd grade), Warriors’ Pride Chorus (4th -5th grades), Middle School Musical Theatre (6th- 8th grades), and Beginning and Advanced Bands (5th-8th grades). Middle School students may also participate in the All-State Chorus Prep club, where they prepare for auditions for the highly competitive choral group that performs at the Florida Music Education Association conference. These enrichment opportunities give students even more experiences to embrace and develop their musical talents.

Many students also choose to further their students with private or group lessons in voice or instruments after school in Corbett Prep's Community School of the Arts.

Recycled Orchestra

The music department worked with classroom teachers on special project combining literacy, music, STEAM and global mindedness. The result was Corbett Prep's own Recycled Orchestra.

Corbett Prep Musical Theatre Takes to the Stars

Middle School Musical Theatre invites you to explore the galaxy in six performances of Starmites March 28-31. Starmites is a charming story about a shy teenager who avoids the pressures of growing up by escaping into the fantasy world of her favorite comic books. When she mysteriously travels through a magic portal to Intergalactic Space, she finds herself in the middle of a conflict where she must fight an evil villain and save the universe!
