Students in first and second grades are active, naturally curious, and eager to learn. Corbett Prep's Upper Primary teachers embrace that excitement by creating engaging lessons in literacy, math, science, and social emotional learning.

Understanding that everyone learns differently, and classes are made up students of multiple intelligences, Upper Primary teachers differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art of Design, and Mathematics) classes stimulate our young students to become independent thinkers.

Experienced, skilled first and second grade teachers at Corbett Prep align lessons with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) essential elements to combine both disciplinary knowledge (the traditional core subject areas) and transdisciplinary concepts (using student inquiry to facilitate deeper understanding).

Teachers incorporate into their students' units of inquiry the PYP essential elements of skills, attitudes, and action that result from successful investigation.
