Academics
Teams of third and fourth graders scour the school grounds, thrilled when they discover the hidden treasure, and then return to their classes to compare their experiences to early explorers. First and second graders wade into the lake, scooping tiny shrimp, snails and minnows into containers to analyze as part of a unit on biomes.
Space Day starts with a bang, literally, as PreK4 and kindergarten watch a model rocket blast off before heading inside to navigate astronaut activities in several centers. Middle School students, meanwhile, may snorkel the Rainbow River to experience Florida's aquifer and then another day stand on stage, reciting original and classic poems during Poetry Coffeehouse.
Learning is active and engaging at Corbett Prep.
Our curriculum is built around authentic experiential, inquiry-based, and reflective learning, helping students uncover facts, relationships, and truths for themselves and promoting autonomy, responsibility, and problem-solving skills. Creativity is a core feature of our curriculum. We encourage students to embrace their imagination as an important part of their educational journey.
Corbett Prep and IB
Corbett Prep is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school. Sixth, seventh and eighth grades are authorized by the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), and PreK3 through fifth grade is authorized by the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Social and Emotional Learning
Corbett Prep is working closely with the Contentment Foundation to pilot internationally a program called the 4 Pillars of Wellbeing. This was an outgrowth of the relationship Corbett Prep developed with the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and complements the many strategies at Corbett Prep for encouraging a climate of dignity and respect.
