Corbett Prep Welcomes Students with a WOW

With butterfly releases, rocket launches, magic and more, Corbett Prep teachers inspire students on the first day of school to think about the kind of year they want to have and how they will work together.

Known as "WOWs," these first-day traditions make for a memorable start to each school year. In August, teachers plan activities for each grade level to help students set goals, learn to work in teams and build community, setting the tone for the new school year in a positive and engaging way.

Peacock Mother's Day Surprise

This peahen spent Mother's Day sitting on her baby peacock eggs at Corbett Prep. Peacocks have called Corbett Prep/Independent Day School their home for 50 years. Middle School Science Teacher Gery Morey says farmers first brought the peacocks to the Carrollwood neighborhood as watchdogs for their orange groves.

Volunteer Appreciation Day

Whether they helped in classrooms or with events, planned cookouts, filled Thursday Folders, chaperoned field trips, built sets for plays or served on committees, volunteers make Corbett Prep special.
