Two experienced Corbett Prep teachers will move into leadership roles this year that will open up new avenues to help students excel and strengthen communication between families and faculty members.
Michael LeBlanc and Ashley Davis are well known to many Corbett Prep families from their years in the music and kindergarten classrooms, respectively, and both are excited about their new positions that will allow them to reach even more students. LeBlanc will serve as the Assistant Principal for Elementary Student Life and School Operations, and Davis will become the Elementary Student Success Director.
Setting Students Up for Success
Corbett Prep created its Student Success Department two years ago as a centralized resource to set students up for success from prekindergarten through eighth-grade graduation. The team works with teachers and families to ensure best educational practices for different learning styles, offering extra support when necessary as well as stretching students to go above and beyond when they need additional challenges.
With 18 years of experience teaching at the intermediate and primary levels, Davis brings to the Student Success team a deep understanding of the needs of elementary students. She will work closely with Cris Ferrone, Middle School Student Success Director, and classroom and resource teachers to develop strategies to help students reach their fullest potential.
Davis graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education and went on to earn a masters in elementary education with a focus on curriculum. She spent the last 12 years as a devoted kindergarten teacher at Corbett Prep who brings a warmth to the classroom along with a passion for lifelong learning and student achievement. She is thrilled with the chance to lead a resource team for students, families and teachers as Corbett Prep restructures and expands the Student Success Department.
Supporting a Positive School Culture
LeBlanc’s new position will give him the opportunity to play a critical role in shaping and maintaining a positive elementary school culture. As assistant principal, he will oversee all facets of student life, including school logistics, and ensure an enriching, safe and productive school experience for all students and staff.
LeBlanc has spent the last 26 years at Corbett Prep, primarily as an elementary music teacher. He is a fixture at school performances, conducting children’s choruses on Fine Arts Nights and directing the annual Warriors’ Pride Chorus musicals for fourth and fifth grade. He has been a valued leader overseeing the Specials Division, coordinating special events facilities and co-directing the Community School of the Arts.
LeBlanc graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and is a National Board-Certified Teacher. Throughout his career at Corbett Prep, LeBlanc has been involved in organizing and administering student and family events and looks forward to continuing to build solid, positive relationships with families and the school community.
Corbett Prep’s elementary program encompasses prekindergarten through fourth grade. Bringing LeBlanc and Davis into leadership roles will elevate the elementary experience and reflects Corbett Prep’s commitment to a student-centered education, says Elementary Principal Mike Johnson.
