This peahen spent Mother's Day sitting on her baby peacock eggs at Corbett Prep.
Peacocks have called Corbett Prep/Independent Day School their home for 50 years. Middle School Science Teacher Gery Morey says farmers first brought the peacocks to the Carrollwood neighborhood of Tampa when Orange Grove Drive was filled with orange groves. The peacocks served as watchdogs, squawking when people came too close to the groves. Today, they perch in trees and on fences and wander through the playgrounds and sports fields at Corbett Prep daily.
Peacock eggs usually take about 30 days to hatch.
