Thank You for Supporting Conference Days!
AS ALWAYS, WE SEND A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR FAMILIES FOR HONORING PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE DAYS!
Our teachers are always so grateful for the opportunity to meet with so many parents during the marathon days of conferences. Last week provided that opportunity. Connecting with our parents creates the team that focuses totally on the success of each Corbett Prep student. Some teachers were even able to brag about meeting with 100 percent of their families.
A big bravo also goes to the Middle School for continuing an amazing system to move parents from one subject to another so they could to meet successfully with their multiple teachers. It's quite a unique experience. The energy and high-level connections made were truly admirable and created pride on all sides!
Philanthropic Lightning Strikes Twice
WOW! Corbett Prep board member and alumni parent David Bellini will once again match Annual Giving gifts this year up to a maximum of $400,000!
David reiterated his commitment to support our school, teachers and staff to ensure our children have whatever it takes to excel as students and individuals in today's environment. He hopes this challenge will stimulate those with the ability to participate in Annual Giving to do so in order to maximize the success of this year's Annual Giving campaign. Thank You, David!!
Gifts can be made by check or online by credit card or direct debit.
For gifts up to $999, Mr. Bellini will match the contribution dollar for dollar. A $500 gift from you to Annual Giving, for example, generates $1,000 for Corbett Prep, effectively doubling the philanthropic impact.
For gifts of $1,000 or higher, Mr. Bellini will match the contribution 2 for 1, effectively tripling the impact. Your $2,000 gift, for example, generates $6,000 for Corbett Prep.
We are grateful for those families who have already given to Annual Giving and are helping us reach this incredible match. For those who have yet to donate this year, our Board of Trustees will be on the phones next Monday and Wednesday striving for 100 percent participation by our entire community.
THANK YOU!Give Today
School Pictures: Oct. 20
Students, brush your hair and pick out your favorite Corbett Prep shirt because it's time for school pictures again!
Studio Artistry will be photographing PreK3-8th grade on Wednesday, Oct. 20. Please remember the Monday through Thursday school dress code will be adhered to for all pictures.
These pictures are such special memories year after year! The photos will appear in the 2021-22 yearbook, and it is important that everyone is included!
All Grades Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
Our fabulosos students have been celebrating this month to recognize many of the positive contributions that Hispanic individuals have made to this country as well as their culture and history.
From PreK through 8th grade, our children explored and engaged in many activities. They decorated our campus and classrooms with colorful and beautiful flags and "papel picado." They researched Hispanic artists, athletes, Spanish speaking countries, and presented their findings in creative ways. Some students delighted their classmates with traditional food!
As a culmination of this celebration, they reflected on the concept of heritage and its meaning. Students discussed how they felt connected to their own heritage and family history. They also demonstrated the importance of gaining more understanding about their family history by expressing different aspects of learning that they would love to extend.
We are very grateful for a community that joins us in this celebration and recognizes how cultural differences make the world more interesting. ¡Muchas gracias!
Costumes Welcome for Halloween 2021!
Corbett Prep's annual Halloween festivities are returning this year with some adjustments to ensure everyone has a safe and fun day on Friday, Oct. 29!
Classrooms are planning their celebrations and will include opportunities for students to show off their costumes. Information about activities, schedules, food and parent involvement will be coming from your teachers and/or Classroom Ambassadors.
In the meantime, if you and your children are choosing their costumes, please be mindful that costumes should be school-appropriate and respectful and that scary masks and accessories are to be left at home.
Join the Coastal Cleanup with Corbett Prep and ConnectOcean
Corbett Prep's ConnectOcean chapter will continue its series of experiential learning family events on Oct. 23 with a special cleanup in the Town of Indian Shores!
We will be participating in the International Coastal Cleanup hosted by the Ocean Conservancy and Keep Pinellas Beautiful! The event will run from 7:45-10:45 a.m. Oct. 23 and is open to all students in 1st through 8th grades.
The cost is $25 per student, and parents are free. Please register on the Parent Portal.
We will be hosting our second student photo contest using the theme "Protecting our Oceans." Students will also be documenting marine debris using National Geographic's Marine Debris Tracker app. As citizen scientists, students will perform an invaluable service in keeping litter out of waterways and away from the beaches. Fun Fact: Corbett Prep is the ONLY elementary/secondary school registered on the Marine Debris Tracker app!
Cleanup details: Meet at the Town of Indian Shores Municipal Center, 19305 Gulf Blvd. Wear a Corbett Prep shirt and closed-toed shoes and bring water and sun protection. We'll provide pickers, gloves, trash bags. RSVP in advance so we know to expect you!
PreK3 Investigates Patterns
The change in seasons, the days of the week, spiderwebs, the life cycle of a pumpkin ... what do all of these have in common? They're all examples of patterns!
This week, PreK3 students began their exploration of patterns as they learn that a pattern is something that happens over and over and over again! From patterns in books to patterns in nature, they're all around us!
Understanding patterns is a key to building a solid foundation for mathematical thinking, problem solving, making predictions and so much more!
