HEADMASTER OF THE DAY
On Monday morning, October 8, Headmaster/Dr. Layla Fleming led the school with eloquence and poise. A member of the class of 2019, Headmaster/Dr. Fleming shared in front of 600 students, teachers, and guests that she has dreamed of being Headmaster of the Day since she was in the PreK3 Flower Patch.
Layla was the first Headmaster for the 2018-2019 school year. Her parents won this leadership opportunity for her during the Big Event in March 2018. Three additional students won the opportunity last year, and they will have their turns in the coming months. The next BIG EVENT is March 8, 2019 when this will be an auction item again.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, IS GREEN AND PURPLE DAY!
This is a reminder from the Monday Morning Meeting. Headmaster/Dr. Layla Fleming declared Friday to be GREEN AND PURPLE DAY to show School Spirit! This is a good time to have fun and pull out your green and purple outfits, shirts, ribbons, etc. to demonstrate your school spirit.

MIDDLE SCHOOL DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY UPDATE
We are embracing the digital age with knowledge, skills and attitudes that lead to success! Students in the Middle School hit the ground running this year in the technology lab!
Our 6th Graders are embracing and embedding the engineering design cycle into their locker space organizers. To do this, they are learning how to use 3D CAD software called TinkerCad. The next step is to rapid prototype their designs on our 3D printers to help with the final construction of their projects.
Digital Citizenship, in this day and age, is one of the most important areas of learning for Middle School students. Our 7th Grade has been busy learning to protect themselves from the dangers they may encounter as digital consumers, as well as learning how to navigate difficult situations they may face now or in the future. The focus is also for our students to be role models of digital etiquette that demonstrate dignity and respect for themselves and others, both on and off-line.
Our 8th Graders are learning how to become documentary filmmakers as they prepare to enter the annual national C-SPAN Student Cam Contest. They have been tasked by the contest to write, film, edit, and produce a film based on the prompt: "What Does It Mean To Be An American?"

PARENTS! WE NEED YOUR HELP!
PLEASE ADHERE TO PAGE 17 of the STUDENT HANDBOOK
First: Our students look great in their Corbett Prep multiple option shirts...so colorful and full of spirit! Thank you.
Second: Most of us are following the expectations for pants/shorts in the handbook. The reason that we even changed our dress code requirements was to allow teachers to teach rather than have to monitor student dress requirements.
Third: Here is the reminder for all students to follow for pants/shorts. Thank you for helping to reach 100 percent participation to be in dress code for shorts/pants.
Fourth: "Monday through Thursday choices for bottoms: Shorts, pants, skorts, and skirts must be a solid color, must be in good condition, school appropriate...a business card size logo is acceptable as long as the rest is a solid color for Monday through Thursday. Please note that all bottoms must be 3 inches above the knee or longer."
Fifth: To make this process easier, we are looking into an optional source for purchase of solid color pants and shorts. We will update you within the next 10 days.
Sixth: To answer many questions, long-sleeved shirts will be available before the end of October.
