UPPER PRIMARY TRAVELS for A HISTORY LESSON
By Mr. Ted Richter
On Monday Nov. 5, the Upper Primary Division students and their teachers traveled to downtown Tampa to visit the Tampa History Center. Our current International Baccalaureate unit of inquiry, "Immigration", focuses on the indigenous people of our country and the immigration of Europeans. This trip provided a local exploration into the past with the Seminole tribe and the arrival of Europeans and Cubans to Florida and the bay area.
During our 90-minute guided tour, students learned about people, ideas, and events that have helped shape our region and state. The Brilliant Bugs, Cool Cats and Mighty Monkeys had an amazing time connecting classroom learning to the actual experience at the Tampa History Museum, which we recommend to everyone. What a great experience for all of us! After the docents' informative and fun tours, all of the students ENJOYED lunch on the steps of the museum.
