Others will dress in the MOD fashion of the decade, while others will wear BEATNIK clothes, and some might opt to portray the latter part of the decade and dress as a HIPPIE. We are proud of our very own Corbett Prep parent Ladale Lloyd for bringing Black History Month to the greater community through his amazing artistic talent. Ladale is the father of 7th grader Alex Lloyd and his two Corbett Prep grads.
Ladale Lloyd is the featured artist for Black History Month at the Robert W. Saunders Library in Tampa. Paintings from his Unstolen Dignity series are on display throughout February. The artist reception is March 5. Unstolen Dignity recognizes the contributions of African slaves through oil portraits that reaffirm their dignity. Congratulations Ladale!
FROM YALE'S RULER II TO THE FOUR PILLARS OF MINDFULNESS
by Marla Vildostegui and Jennifer Jones
For the last three years, Corbett Prep has partnered with the Yale University Center for Social Emotional Intelligence to implement RULER I and pilot RULER II. Our students have benefitted greatly from this partnership. Last year with the success of the program and training, the Contentment Foundation was established to launch RULER II worldwide under the name The Four Pillars of Well-Being! For the last 9 months, the Contentment Foundation brought together a team from all over the world to transform the training that we experienced in person to an on-line platform.
The great news is that Corbett Prep became the first school in the world to launch the Contentment Foundation's Four Pillars of Wellbeing Online Platform, giving us access to scientifically backed training and programs that has the potential to improve the performance and wellbeing of our entire school!! The First Pillar is Mindfulness which most of our students can teach us now! This information can also be found in an Educational Journal Research report.
On Wednesday, Jan. 23, our Corbett Prep Four Pillars Team eagerly gathered bright and early at 6:50 in the morning to connect via Zoom Meeting with two members of the Contentment Foundation's Bali team, Dr. Dan Cordaro, CEO and co-founder of the Contentment Foundation, and Dipesh Bhardwaj, Chief Technology Officer and creator of the platform. At that time, they connected with us to officially launch this amazing online platform. Once again, this allowed Corbett Prep to be the first school in the world with access to the full body of the Contentment Foundation's work online.
You can learn more about what the platform offers and see Corbett Prep featured by visiting the Contentment Foundation's newly designed website. You can also expect that we will proudly be sharing our success with others as a private school with a public purpose!
