Accreditations & Partnerships

Designated as an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) for PreK3-5th grade in 2009 and Middle Years Programme (MYP) 6th-8th grade in 2007. The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a global leader in international education – developing inquiring, knowledgeable, confident, and caring young people. The programmes empower school-aged students to take ownership in their own learning and help them develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in a world that changes fast.

In 2015-16, Corbett Prep implemented the RULER program for social-emotional intelligence from the highly acclaimed Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.

In 2016, Corbett Prep became the national pilot school for the Four Pillars of Wellbeing, a new research-based curriculum that grew out of Yale's RULER program and now is under the  Contentment Foundation.

Corbett Prep teachers use strategies from Kagan Cooperative Learning to increase academic achievement, reduce discipline problems, help students develop social skills and more. Corbett Prep served as a Kagan Cooperative Learning Model School until 2018 and has hosted conferences and workshops for teachers statewide.

Corbett Prep has partnered with Mid Sweden University for four Corbett Prep faculty members – Mike Johnson, Cynthia Whitney, Kathryn Smith Rouse and Telma Largent – to pursue PhDs in education through the lens of quality management. Corbett Prep has offered professional development to teachers and administrators in concept-based curriculum and instruction (CBCI) with Drs. Lynn Erickson and Lois Lanning of the CBCI Institutde, part of Professional Learning International.

Many Corbett Prep teachers became endorsed in Gifted Education through a collaborative program with the University of South Florida.

Corbett Prep has had a longstanding relationship with the University of South Florida's College of Education dating back to the 1990s when former Corbett Prep/IDS Head of School Joyce Burick Swarzman directed the honors program for aspiring teachers.
