Heads' Letter

Students across the Corbett Prep campus have been busy participating in Computer Science Education Week, a program that challenges students around the world to code for at least an hour. Technology teachers and leaders, Mr. Tim Mimbs (middle school) and Mrs. Madonna Davis (elementary), stretch our students' young minds by completing months of coding through various platforms and in multiple coding languages.

Kindergarten through 5th grade use a platform called Kodable, a program written specifically to educate kids about computer science. As students navigate through various Kodable worlds, they learn computational thinking, programming concepts, problem-solving skills, sequencing, and much more. In the Middle School, students have been learning to code in popular programming languages JavaScript, Swift, and Python. Coding drives entire units of learning in grades 6-8, giving students opportunities to go above and beyond utilizing an important life skill in the 21st Century.
