Kagan Presents Brain-Based Teaching Workshop at Corbett Preparatory School of IDS
Corbett Prep is one of eight spots on Dr. Spencer Kagan’s book tour on brain-based teaching.
April 23, 2015 (TAMPA, Fla.) – An internationally known expert in brain-friendly teaching will present a special workshop at Corbett Preparatory School of IDS in May to launch his book tour and share his latest research and advice on how to keep students engaged successfully in learning.
Dr. Spencer Kagan is hosting a one-day workshop on May 2 at Corbett Prep on how to apply brain science to maximize learning. The workshop will include information about how the brain learns and ways teachers can target brain centers for emotion, motivation, memory, attention and thinking.
Corbett Prep is one of eight sites across the country on Dr. Kagan’s “brain tour” this year. A Kagan Model School, Corbett Prep held an open house in February where teachers from other schools observed Corbett Prep teachers using various Kagan structures in class. Dr. Spencer Kagan and Laurie Kagan have developed more than 200 cooperative structures designed to engage students.
Engaging, interactive classes grab students’ attention and keep them motivated. As a result, students’ behavior improves, they learn more and they have increased retention.
The May 2 workshop is open to the public and appropriate for teachers of all grades. The registration fee includes a free copy of Dr. Kagan’s new book, Brain-Friendly Teaching: Tools, Tips & Structures. The book details six brain-based principles that will help teachers align how they teach with how students actually learn.
The event will last from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at Corbett Preparatory School of IDS, 12015 Orange Grove Dr., Tampa.
