It’s Game On for Community School for Sports
at Corbett Prep
Corbett Prep is offering a new option for families interested in youth sports in Tampa.
Nov. 12, 2015 (TAMPA, Fla.) – Students from across the Tampa Bay area are invited to improve their athletic performance in a new program that allows kids to learn skills in a positive, goal-oriented environment.
Community School for Sports officially debuted this fall at Corbett Preparatory School of IDS in North Tampa and will be expanding its offerings in January. The youth sports program includes a variety of sport-specific instruction from professionally trained or certified coaches. Its focus so far has been youth basketball but will grow to encompass track, sports broadcasting, yoga and more in the spring.
The sports program is open to students of all ages throughout the region, regardless of where they go to school. Community School for Sports (CSS) works closely with the Marvin Harvey Basketball School of Excellence, incorporating different opportunities for skills trainings, competitive scrimmages and tournaments to expand its reach into the greater Tampa area.
The winter session will begin in January with options that include:
- Competitive basketball
- Track club
- Baseball clinics
- Volleyball skill development
- Exploracise academics and activities
- Yoga for children and athletes
More sessions and clinics will be added to the winter roster as well as the spring. Community School for Sports also is building connections by partnering with organizations such as the YMCA and Cooper Sports Performance. Sponsorships are available as well.
Carmyn Samuel, CSS director, says the program is meeting a demand for quality sports training for students in the region. Teams and participants have greeted the new program for youth sports in Tampa with enthusiasm. “I’m most excited that the community is excited,” Coach Samuel says.
