Many hold advanced degrees and are endorsed in Gifted Education from the University of South Florida College of Education Gifted Program.
All teachers are trained to teach the International Baccalaureate Curriculum at their grade level and subject area.
The faculty are highly skilled educators, known for being lifelong learners, with a commitment to continuous study, implementing the research on effective teaching.
Corbett Prep's respected, exemplary teachers model teaching for visitors from across the globe who wish to learn how to facilitate learning with precision and finesse.
At the heart of Corbett Preparatory School of IDS is teacher training. The Corbett Prep spirit is like the Olympic spirit, where the best are always working to get better.
Our teachers study together weekly, discovering the latest research in what works in educating children, and they embrace proven methods for challenging students to succeed.
At Corbett Prep, everyone works to create a community filled with care, cooperation, collaboration, and cohesiveness. We work together to ensure that Corbett Prep is a comfortable and enjoyable place for students, teachers, and all staff.
Dr. Joyce Burick Swarzman led Corbett Prep for more than two decades, placing a priority on professional development and brain-based teaching methods. In 2021, she won an FCIS award for her dedication to education.
The Student Success Department, which formed in Fall 2021, highlights the value that Corbett Prep places on the uniqueness of every learner. It brings together the many sources of support Corbett Prep offers while adding new programs that benefit all students.
The Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS) honored Dr. Joyce Burick Swarzman with the 2021 Edgar McCleary Service Award, a special recognition for a “teacher’s teacher” who has given generously of his or her time to further the mission of FCIS schools.
This new structure – a head of school, academic principals and division leaders – will enhance communication and consistency and position leaders to work directly with Corbett Prep teachers, students and families from multiple angles.
