Corbett Preparatory School of IDS to Host Florida Association for the Gifted (FLAG) Conference April 5-6, 2013

Florida Association for the GiftedMarch 20, 2013 (Tampa, FL)—“More Possibilities in Gifted Education” is the theme for this year’s FLAG conference, and the public is invited to attend.

“FLAG is very excited to hold our Annual Conference this year in the Tampa Bay area. We are thrilled to partner with Corbett Prep as we offer 50 sessions presented by some of the top gifted educators in the field. We hope many parents and teachers will take advantage of our reasonable registration fee and come learn from and network with other parents and teachers from around the state,” said FLAG President-elect Stephanie Georgiades.

On Friday, April 5, Corbett Prep Headmaster Dr. Joyce Burick Swarzman will offer a pre-conference workshop focusing on “Capitalizing on the Uniqueness of Each Child in School and at Home” from 9:00 a.m – 4:30 p.m.

The conference Saturday, April 6 will include a presentation by keynote speaker Dr. Dorothy Sisk, Former Director of the U.S. Department of Education Office on Gifted and Talent and University of South Florida Teacher Training and Gifted Graduate Programs Coordinator.

The conference also includes 50 breakout sessions covering a wide array of topics relevant to gifted education. Some of the learning opportunities available include USDOE Common Core Curriculum Standards and Gifted Education, Technology Integration, Acceleration Options, Curriculum Differentiation, Stress Reduction, Parenting Insights, Evaluation Processes, Socratic Inquiry, Creative Applications, and more.
