Parent Faculty Association (PFA)
What is the Parent Faculty Association (PFA)?
The PFA is a vibrant partner in the education of children at Corbett Prep. Parents at Corbett Prep are a significant part of the child’s learning experience both in and out of the classroom.
All parents of current students and all members of the Corbett Prep teaching and administrative staff are automatically members of the PFA.
The governing body of the PFA is the Executive Committee. Standing committees of the PFA may change from year to year as needs arise. Ad hoc committees may also be formed. The standing committees and more information may be found in the PFA Handbook or under specific PFA events.
The PFA Executive Committee communicates with the Corbett Prep community through the school’s Thursday folders, the weekly Heads’ Letters and Facebook. In addition, the PFA President, as an ex-officio member of the Board, keeps the Board of Trustees informed of PFA activities with a written and verbal report. One of the most important functions of the PFA Executive Committee is to serve as a liaison between the parent body and school staff and administration.
Room Parent Coordinators
Our Room Parent Coordinator (RPC) program ensures classrooms run smoothly and parents stay informed! The RPC’s serve as liaisons between our teachers and parents by coordinating parent involvement in school activities throughout the year.
Opportunities vary depending on grade level but may include:
- Coordinating class celebrations
- Chaperoning field trips
- Supporting classroom fundraising activities
- Coordinating class creations for the Golf and Big Event auctions
- Assisting teachers with copying, laminating and more
- Communicating with families via email and Thursday folders
The Dads' Club provides volunteers and resources to support Corbett Prep fundraisers, to promote fellowship among Corbett Prep dads, and to allow dads/guardians to be more involved with their children’s education and lives.
The Dads' Club has coordinated basketball games for fathers, quarterly social gatherings, lunch BBQ for kids and more. Members also encourage attendance and participation at school events.
